We broke 1,000 page views!

In all honesty, that doesn't mean much, considering that I have accounted for probably close to 100 of those, just to check to make sure everything looks good and see how many visits we've gotten.

But still, that means that a few (hopefully a lot) of you have collectively visited the site 900+ times.

We are excited to see what this site can continue to develop into, and we hope that it will help to benefit all of the Friends of the team.

Go Cross!

05/01/11 - Women race NERC

A couple quick shoutouts to the women's team.

Congrats to Odet Douglass '11 & Kate Broderick '12 for making the All-Patriot League team! Kate made the 1st team and Odet made the 2nd team.

The women will be racing this weekend on Quinsig at the New England Rowing Championships. Last year, the team placed tied for second overall in the points trophy, highlighted by a silver medal from the 2V. The results of the racing will affect seeding for the ECAC Regatta, their end-of-year championship race.

Last weekend the women placed 4th in the Patriot League Championship Regatta, behind Bucknell, Navy, and Colgate. The team beat out MIT & Lehigh.

If you aren't able to make it NJ to catch the guys in action but are in the Boston/Worcester area, head over to Quinsig on Sunday!

Twitter sidebar temporarily down

Not sure why the coding isn't working. We're looking into it and should have it up and running as soon as possible.

If you can't live without the twitter updates, follow us and the teams at:
@friendsofHCRowing
@HCMRowing
@HCWRowing

Good luck to both teams this weekend!

New Page Added: Media

We are happy to announce the creation of a new page on the site. Friends and family will now have the ability to watch races or look at pictures as they become available to us. For tonight, we have added some pictures from the GW Invite & Youtube videos of the race from this weekend against Bucknell.

If anyone has old photos or old videos that you would like to see on the site, feel free to send them this way and we will be more than happy to share them!

The "Media" page will constantly be updated, but we will usually make a blog post to let people know something has been added.

HC v Bucknell Results

We'll keep this brief, and hopefully update it soon with some race recaps from the team, as well as photos from the boat dedication ceremony.

Results courtesy of row2k HERE.

In the 1V race, the men rowed a great race and won by less than a second (0.8) over Bucknell.

In the 2V race, HC won convincingly, winning by 20 seconds.

In the 3V4 race, HC came in 1st & 3rd, with Bucknell in between.

In the 1F race, Bucknell topped HC by 4 seconds. This race was of great importance to the coaching staff (although, what race isn't?) because it pitted former teammates from HC against each other. In 2005, the HC 1V finished in 10th place at the EARC Sprints, which is the best place the school has ever recorded in the Varsity Eight event. The boat was stroked that year by Al Monte, '07, and current Bucknell freshman coach, and was coxed by Nick Zinter, '05, and current HC freshman coach. Last year, in their first meeting, Zinter's freshmen topped Monte's frosh, but this year the results were turned with Monte's boat getting the win.

As much as we love to see alum doing great things, here's to Zinter dominating Monte from here on out.

HC Rowing Golf Outing - May 13, 2011 (update: 04/22)

Update (04/22/11): The document that is referenced below has been uploaded and can be found HERE. If you have trouble getting access, please email us for the document.

Last year the school helped to organize a golf outing for HC Rowing alumni, friends and families. In its first year, we managed to draw 48 golfers to the tournament, this year we hope to have an even bigger turnout. Last year, Adam, Andrew, and Rick all participated, and Andrew was on the winning team. It was a great excuse for some of us younger guys to take a day off from work, and for someone like myself, who has never played a round of golf in my life, it was well worth the cost of participating.

The tournament is the Friday of EARC Sprints weekend. All pertinent information is after the break; it is from the HCRA.

Boat Dedication Ceremony - April 23, 2011

I realize it is relatively soon, but we hope to have a good turnout for this event. To see more details, click the link below.

GW Invite Recap

First, we must give a huge thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Prominski, P '13, for hosting both the team and the alumni during the weekend of the GW Invite. They were kind enough to have entire team over for dinner on Friday night, and then hosted a reception for alumni in the area (including some that had traveled from as far as Syracuse, NY and Boston, MA). Not only did they host all these people, but they were also at the race course both days, manning the table with food for the team. We are incredibly fortunate to have them as part of the HC Men's Rowing family.

Our Mission

Four graduates - Adam Furlong '09, Albert Monte '07, Rick Freniere '02, and Andrew Cutney, M.D. '97, have come together to try and build a better network of former oarsmen (and oarswomen), parents, families, and friends of HC Men's Rowing. We have done this exclusively through word of mouth, tracking down older alumni, and asking them to help us in this venture. We are excited to say that we have now collected the names and contact information for over twenty years of oarsmen, and we are looking forward to continuing to build that list.

Update your contact info

The success of this website and all related projects is tied to the strength of our contacts. We have worked hard to track down information for as many people as possible, but it is conceivable that emails are old or non existent, jobs have improved, or cities have changed. Please take a moment to update your contact information so that we can best support each other and the team.
