Video and Audio Coverage of EARC Sprints!

We have some exciting news to share with everyone that will not be able to make it to Worcester for the weekend. Princeton University will be providing audio and video footage of the racing going on. The Sprints will be a test run, in hopes of being able to provide the same kind of footage for the IRA.

05/15/11 - Eastern Sprints

So it all comes down to one day. One race, really, as all 17 teams (MIT did not field a 1V this spring) will be going all out in the morning heats to try and secure a spot in the grand final, or even the petite final, where they will have a chance to claim one of the 9 automatic bids to the IRA.

The heats are as follows for Sunday morning:

Harvard // Syracuse // Cornell // Georgetown // Pennsylvania
Wisconsin // Brown // Navy // Columbia // Northeastern // Rutgers
Princeton // Boston // Yale // Dartmouth // Holy Cross // George Washington

My thoughts on the racing are below, click the link to read more.

Northeastern Results

Sorry these are late in getting posted.

HC Men v. Northeastern

Although it is not currently on the school website, the team IS racing this weekend, against Northeastern University in Boston at 8a. They will do a 2k race and then some pieces afterward.

Northeastern is currently ranked 20th in the country in the most recent US Rowing Poll.

Northeastern is perennially a top 10 team in the country, but this year seems to be struggling a bit with a smaller roster than past years. They had a disappointing showing at the San Diego Crew Classic, winning the Petite Final. They have also lost to Boston, Brown, Georgetown, UPenn, and Harvard. However, they have excellent coaching and a phenomenal freshman class, so it is safe to assume they will be climbing the polls very fast next season.

According to cMax, the Huskies will win by 4.9 seconds.

Best of luck to the Crusaders this weekend! If anyone can catch video or photos, feel free to send them this way!

What we want to one day be like

While this is certainly not the end all, be all, here is a great article about the history of University of Washington Rowing. It outlines the 108 year history of the program, as well as how the team has grown and changed, in large part, due to the strength of the alumni.

Read about it here.
